Sale di Mare, Split to Dubrovnik

The guide, Anita, was excellent. Charming, efficient and most helpful. It was a joy to have such service. I cannot recommend her too much. The crew were very helpful. Food not so good- too much overcooked meat, just one fish dish in 7 days.. Good bar service. Most enjoyable party after the captain',s dinner- lots of dancing ! I did not engage in excursions, as too strenuous for my age.. Others enjoyed them.. Cabin fine and very efficient and pleasant cleaner.

Salve Di Mare explorer cruise

Tonka and Loana were great cruise leaders . They and the rest of the crew were very friendly and always available to answer questions and /or help in any way. They were also very flexible with regard to on-boat activities . The swim stops were beautiful and safe. The boat was steady .It was a wonderful way to explore the small islands along the Croatian coast. It was great that the bar was open to the wee hours. However, a more diverse cocktail menu is suggested. The wines were great. There were a few snags on the boat. E.g. intermittent unpleasant sulphur-like oder in the cabin. The cabin could use brighter lighting , especially in the bathroom. Also, I would suggest washable flooring in the cabins to make them less prone to mildew. The Sail Croatia experience was spectacular! I would do it again.

Not what you expect

For the price that you pay which is quite exorbitant I don’t think this experience lives up to the cost or the hype. While the crew and the staff on board as well as the guide are absolutely lovely and the service was great the boat is old, creaky and smelly.. The air-conditioning barely worked and people complained non-stop about the Aircon not working. There were no fans even on deck which are desperately needed to combat the unbearable European summer heat. Unfortunately it did not live up to the expectations and certainly not to the reviews I’ve seen on site. The boats need full renovations and need to be fully updated in order for them to be able to get a higher rating.

Thank you for your review - we’re pleased to hear that you found our crew, staff, and service to be excellent. However, we regret to learn that the boat did not meet your expectations. We maintain a high rating of 4.7/5 stars for this departure, and our internal reports did not indicate any air-conditioning issues raised by yourself or any other guest. We encourage guests to raise any concerns with our Onboard Rep so we can address them swiftly. For transparency, we provide detailed imagery and information about each of our Explorer ships on our website to help guests make an informed decision about their accommodation. We appreciate your input and comments as we continue to enhance our services.

Great Guide, Great Crew, A Few things to improve

First up, Ana, our guide, was top notch and probably the best guide I've had on any trip. She provided comprehensive maps at each stop of good restaurants, museums, attractions and bars, carried herself very professionally, and was always polite and informative. She is an asset for Sail Croatia. The staff, were also brilliant. Particularly Branko on the bar. You want your bar staff to be funny, eccentric and great to have a conversation with, and Branko exceeded expectations on all three! The food was also impeccable. The Explorer cruise was also a very good crowd. Perhaps slightly older and more couples than I expected, but it suited me well. The only parts where Sail Croatia fell short for me was some of the experiences. Not having an alternative option instead of rafting (which was unavailable in Makarska on my trip) was disappointing. Even a short walk along the Cetina would have been OK. The Korcula buggy tour was also short and expensive for what it was.

A few Changes

The food at lunch should be lighter and healthier.; not pasta and risotto. Sandwiches, salads, roasted vegetables, wraps, would be better. We don’t need dessert. Coffee needs to be out during the morning for longer that one hour. Keep coffee out until 11:00 AM. Happy Hour from 6-7. Drinks at bar poor quality. Quality of cabin was not great. I wasn’t expecting much, but the handle was off my drawer in the bathroom & bed and pillow VERY uncomfortable. I DID enjoy my trip as there was more to enjoy than these things and had a great time. Thank you.

Hi Sarah, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your time on the cruise and Croatia as a whole. We are disheartened to hear of the issues raised. All cruises include 3-course lunches which is usually a starter, main and dessert - I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with the lunches served, our chefs aim to provide a variety of meals using fresh, local produce. Upon viewing the feedback you provided, we are happy to know you enjoyed the Captain's Dinner and other aspects of your cruise. We are disappointed to read about the drawer handle and pillow - we have a rigorous process in place for any issues that arise onboard, which is outlined in your pre-departure information and following this process ensures that no incident is left unreported. Had we been made aware, we would have resolved this immediately for you. We understand that coffee is important to some, so we provide filtered coffee which is available during breakfast hours and complimentary instant coffee is also available during the day. You also have the option of capsual coffee payable via your bar tab. We appreciate your comments and are thrilled to know that the issues raised didn't deter from your overall enjoyment onboard.

A beautiful experience

The boat was clean and very comfortable The bar crew were super friendly and the service was excellent. The food I found was not good, too heavy and over cooked. A lunch buffet would have been so much better similar to breakfast, greasy and light. Klara our guide was great, super friendly and always there for you. My only suggestion would be some more activities especially for the solo traveller. Some days were same same. I found in Split we were left with no guidance or suggestions on what we could do while waiting for our late afternoon plane departure Thanks Sail Croatia and Klara

Good experience and would recommend!

Overall, I had a very lovely time and the Adriatic sea is beautiful. The highlight of the trip was our tour manager named Ivana. She was excellent, was giving great and truthful advice, and even helped me book my taxi to the airport. Without her, my trip would not have been as good. The captain was also very friendly and helpful! The boat was also in good condition and the sundeck was my highlight. The crew kept us safe and were very mindful that we always had water and electricity (a task in itself when we are sailing every day and the docks were extra busy during peak season). The food and cleanliness was ok. Given the price and the overall experience, I had a really great time and would recommend to others.

Had a great time thanks to the crew on board however I was sold a game of thrones cruise and that was not delivered

The crew, the boat, the quality of food was amazing. The itinerary was incredible the tours well planned however I booked a Game of thrones cruise and that was not delivered. The Cruise manager Ivana was awesome and she tried to solve it. But I expected more if you are selling a GOT cruise. Nobody on the boat was aware of this. Not the guests nor the crew.

Highly recommend!!

Ivan, our tour guide and the crew on board were amazing! Ivan's knowledge of his country and the history is superb, matched by his friendly nature. It was such a great opportunity to visit multiple places in style and make new friends along the way. The week was quite busy but you get to pick and choose what you want to do each day. I recommend staying an extra day in Dubrovnik to ensure you have enough time for activities and exploring. My lower deck room could become quite cold and the rooms don't have great ventilation for drying items, so pack more than recommended on the website. I'd do it all over again, thank you Sail Croatia!

Thanks for your review Claire. So great to receive your review and that our cruise comes highly recommended, thank you! Yes, the Lower Deck cabins are quieter and cooler than the Above Deck cabins which do appeal to many of our travellers, and we agree, packing a few more items is a good idea. Thanks again for your 5-stars.

Excellent

The Almissa was immaculate, cabins were basic but extremely comfortable with a superb shower. All the staff worked hard and long hours including the tour managers. They were always polite well mannerd but also fun. We had daily informative briefings about our next stop and the captain always managed to find the most beautiful swim stops in the morning. We were well fed at breakfast and dinner time, breakfast was a buffet, lunch was 3 courses and we experienced some super delicious dishes.. There was always someone at hand to answer any queries either on the ship or off the ship via a wassap group. All in all i 100% enjoyed this cruise and would do it again in a heartbeat. I went as a solo female traveller of 53 which i was very nervous about to begin with but all my fears were soon put to rest, there was a varied range of ages and everybody just got on with everyone. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Seabream

Explorer/Excursions: was disappointed by the lack of excursions and exploring on the explorer cruise. On board we did a lot of relaxing and cruising so I anticipated action packed land adventures. This trip fell flat. The 1 to 2 excursion I did I really enjoyed. Hora wine tasting (great local place with the sweetest donkeys) and biking in Mljet Meals: I am a pescatarian (no meat, only seafood). I was served seabream-4-5 lunches in a row. I mentioned to the guide I'd like more variety, the next lunch I again received seabream. After that I mentioned to the head crew member I'd like to eat something other than seabream. Then I finally I had a change to tuna. The next meal seabass. The guide also had dietary restrictions and made a huge fuss in front of our entire table when given something she didn't eat. My final meal aboard was back to seabream with a side of peppers; meanwhile the guide had a overwhelming portion of gnocchi and peppers.

Hi Melissa, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed the Korcula Village Dinner, Wine Tasting and cycling around Mljet National Park. We agree, these are fantastic excursions and we love the Hora wine (and donkey's) also. It's nice to see from your feedback provided, you enjoyed your breakfasts onboard, rating this 4 stars, although not our usual 5 star service, we are glad you enjoyed the meals served each morning and we appreciate the fact that you would recommend us to others, thank you. Our onboard chef's aim to prepare delicious meals, using fresh, local produce, catering to all tastes, however at times, we understand that this is not always possible. Sea bream is a highly valued species of Adriatic white fish which would have been skill-fully prepared for you, especially as you had advised us of your dietary requirements. In saying this, we are sorry to hear that this became quite repetitive throughout the week. We have mentioned this to the onboard chef so that they are aware. We hope that this aspect didn't deter from your overall experience and we thank you for joining us this summer!

Fantastic Boat and Crew

The boat and crew were fantastic, but unfortunately I was quite disappointed with the age group of travellers on board. There were a large number of older travellers when I was hoping to mix and mingle with travellers around the same age in the 20-40 age group. The trip is marked for couples, young professionals, young at heart. Unfortunately there were too many 'young at heart' and couples on board for my liking. I would recommend doing a Navigator cruise instead with a Premier boat. On the plus side our guide Ivana was amazing and we had a Sail Croatia photographer with us for the week (still waiting for the pictures though which are overdue),

Thank you for your review. We’re so glad to hear that overall you had a wonderful time onboard your Explorer Cruise, and that you were well looked after by the crew and your Tour Manager. We’re sorry to hear that the age range onboard didn’t meet your expectations. Our Explorer Cruises are perfect for travellers that wish to explore, socialise and experience Croatia at its finest, and we often find a mix of couples, young professionals and young at heart travellers onboard. Please keep an eye on the Sail Croatia Facebook page, where all images from the 2018 season will be published.

Friendly crew and comfortable trip but buyer beware

Travelling solo in mid-Sep 2017 on the return Split route on Premier Plus. Pros: Friendly crew and fellow passengers, great food (3-course lunches everyday), comfortable bedrooms with daily housekeeping service, Nice sunbathing area when the weather is good and swim stops. Also it's great to be able to explore the different places in Croatia without lugging around your luggage! Cons: We were very reliant on the weather - when the weather is bad, there is nothing you can do on the boat other than catching up on your books, napping etc. Also, my biggest sore point is we spent way too long on the boat vs on land. For example we only had one afternoon and the evening in Dubrovnik (leaving first thing the next morning!), one of the biggest attraction of Croatia! That is definitely not enough and I wonder how the schedules were arranged. All in all, lovely trip but not for those who really want to explore each place.

Hi there and thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the crew and fellow passengers, the food onboard, the clean and comfortable bedrooms, the sunbathing area and the convenience of exploring each island without carrying around luggage. We are sorry to hear you experienced some bad weather whilst on the cruise. In regards to the daily schedule, generally speaking, our ships set sail early in the morning from each destintation, you have a swim stop and lunch onboard and then dock in to the next destination where you are free to explore. At times, ships can be restricted due to port authorities as captains would need to wait until they are given permission to dock. We aim to get all our boats docked as early as we can, however at times, this is not possible. It's great to know you enjoyed the trip overall and we thank you again for sharing your experience with us.

Relaxation and adventure

What a fantastic experience, a great mix of adventure and total relaxation. Our guide Petar was exceptional, so friendly and knowledgeable.

Can rock it solo

Explorer option will sail croatia was great! Able to make friends easily as it wasn't party party party all the time like other boats. Had a great time and probably still drank too much but never missed breakfast which is a good sign. Was disappointed that our original boat was not finished in time and we got downgraded and after seeing the model we were meant be on at one of the dock was disappointed in the amount refunded as there was a significant difference in boats. However, the staff we had on Almissa were absolutely amazing!!!! Ana, Ivan, Parvo and the team made sure we had a great time and we were given all the knowledge of local spots to go with some fantastic history thrown in. Would definitely do it again!

Cruise Croatia

As a solo traveler you never know what kind of experience you will have or people you will meet. My fellow passengers were welcome and inviting, they made it easy for a solo traveller to fit in! The cruise exceeded my expectations in terms of cabins and food, it was very high end for the price. I do wish that breakfast was later, it was hard to get up some mornings to make breakfast but if you did not make it, you waited until 1 for lunch. A midmorning snake would have been great! I know ports had restrictions on times we could dock, I wouldh have liked however either water taxis for those that wanted to go earlier or onboard activites to help pass the time, their was a lot of down time and swim stops. I know that is what you do on a cruise but for me, I would\'ve liked more time on shore. I will definately recommend Sail Croatia to solo travelers and friends as an unforgettable experience, I hope to join you again one day for another Croatian adventure! Shout out to the crew, amazing!!

Totally recommend!

When I first walked onto the boat and checked out our cabins, I literally thought I'd hit the jackpot. Was so super stoked with the size of the rooms and the cruiser in general! The whole trip is chilled but we had a few fun party nights and there are activities/ excursions to do each day which cost but worth it if it's something you like. I did the wine tasting and it was so nice :) I highly recommend the Wednesday departure from split to split as you are on a different route to the navigator boats. The food was also way above my expectations. Maya (our host) was amazing and knowledgable and came out for drinks a few nights too. The sail Croatia recommendations for restaurants/ bars etc are not the best, so I would do your own research rather than skimp out for small discounts/ free dessert etc. Age ranges from mid twenties to sixties also, which made things really fun!

Great holiday

After touring around parts of Europe for 4 weeks, we needed a rest, so glad we chose Sail Croatia. Not only was it relaxing but we got to see a lot of Croatia's coastline and islands. We had a lovely host Ivana who was very knowledgeable and was always there if there were any questions., we had several swim stops and plenty of time to explore the islands. Breakfast and lunch were included and the cabins were comfortable, only thing I wish we'd had an above deck cabin., not a lower deck cabin. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend Sail Croatia as a holiday getaway.
