Croatia cruises and sailing holidays will offer travellers the chance to see an event on the 2009 Red
Bull Cliff Diving tour next month. The series will come to Dubrovnik in Croatia on July 11th before heading to Germany, Switzerland, Greece and other destinations before September. Cliff diving sees participants plunging into water from peaks ranging from 23 to 28 metres in height for men and 18 to 23 metres for women. People on Croatia cruises will be able to visit the event in Dubrovnik to take in the impressive sight of athletes coordinating their body to complete the dive while travelling through the air at up to 100km/h. Cliff diving is thought to have its origins in Hawaii in the 1700s, when it was used as an initiation test for warriors. The extreme sport is not the only thing that people taking Croatia cruises can see in Dubrovnik. One of the destination's most popular sights is its protective wall, which runs for 2km around the city. ![]() |
