destination on the country's Adriatic coast.The local council announced that the city took top place in a survey by the Croatian National Tourist Board, which sought the opinions of industry professionals and journalists on cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants. Dubrovnik and Zadar, two other destinations that travellers can visit during Croatia sailing holidays, took second and third place respectively. There has been widespread investment in Split this year, with developments including brand new public areas and 10,000 square metres of greenery being financed by the local authorities. Bacvice beach has also been awarded Blue Flag status, meaning that its safety and cleanliness is guaranteed for visitors.
