Split could prove a popular stop on Croatia sailing holidays over the coming weeks following the opening of
its 2009 Summer Festival on July 14th.The festival will feature live music, opera, theatre and other cultural events at various venues around Split until August 14th. An evening of ballet and a performance of Carmina Burana was arranged for the opening night of the 2009 Split Summer Festival, which marks the 55th edition of the cultural celebration. Travellers on Croatia sailing holidays will be able to stop off in Split to see performances by some 1,500 artists from 22 different countries over the course of the summer. Another highlight of a visit to the city is the historic Diocletian Palace, an ancient Roman structure that has been declared a Unesco World Heritage site. Split features on a number of Croatia sailing holiday itineraries, including one route that also visits the historic Dalmatian towns of Trogir and Sibenik. ![]() |
