 Sports fans planning Croatia sailing holidays this month could be tempted to pay a visit to the city
of Split to see some live football.Premier League side Blackburn Rovers will pay a visit to the city on the Adriatic coast as part of a pre-season tour. After a game against Italian side AS Roma in Bolzano on July 16th, Rovers will head to Split to take part in a triangular mini-tournament. Travellers on Croatia sailing holidays will be able to see the English side play local team Hajduk Split and Portuguese outfit CS Maritimo in two 45-minute matches on July 18th. Hajduk Split are one of the top teams in Prva HNL, Croatia's top-flight football competition. They finished second to Dinamo Zagreb in the 2008-09 season, guaranteeing themselves a place in the qualifying round of the Uefa Europa League. Travellers who visit Split during Croatia sailing holidays can also take some time to walk along the Riva, the city's main promenade and a popular tourist area.  |
