| Monday, 11 January 2010 11:28 |
Britons taking Croatia sailing holidays have been encouraged to take the opportunity to visit the island of Hvar.Travel website Jetsetter.com included Hvar on its list of the world's top ten islands that are "off the beaten track", Reuters reports. One of the highlights of the destination, according to the site, is its "beautiful port town", also called Hvar. Travellers who visit the island during Croatia sailing holidays were also encouraged to venture out of the town to see the local fig and olive groves, vineyards and quaint villages. Hvar features on two Croatia sailing holiday itineraries, including one route that begins in the historic city of Split and includes stops in destinations such as Makarska, Mljet and Dubrovnik, which also has a fascinating heritage. There are several other islands worth seeing along the country's picturesque Dalmatian coast, including Korcula, Vis and Sipan, all of which can be visited during an Adriatic cruise. ![]() |
